Yaeger CPA Review Course - Is It Worth the Price?

The Yaeger CPA review course was by no means the first one I used. After using another study course, I failed three out of four sections of the CPA exam. It was after that event that I bought Yaeger's Home Study Course, which ended up helping me to pass all three sections with impressive results.

The Yaeger site states that candidates who have revised using the Yaeger CPA review course have an average pass rate of 88% on the CPA exam. Dr. Phil Yaeger has helped candidates prepare for the exam since 1977. I was attracted to the fact Dr. Yaeger and his team offered access to a tutors help line. It is an invaluable part of their candidate support system and is an 800 number. I made loads of calls to this hotline and have talked with very patient professors (including Dr. Yaeger himself a couple of times) who would not finish the call until all my questions were answered.

The lecture videos are totally absorbing and are taught by qualified tutors. The videos followed a simple format where lecturers explained the important ideas and worked through multiple choice questions and simulations. A feature with the Yaeger system is that more lesson time is devoted to materials that are more likely to appear on the exam. The lecturers also encourage people to learn the most significant questions likely to show up in the exam.

Also worth mentioning are Yaeger's cram DVDs which could be responsible for adding between 5 to 15 points to your exam results. Every DVD teaches a reduced version of a single CPA section and lasts 7-16 hours. The emphasis really seems to be on identifying areas you have weaknesses with and adding confidence and knowledge to improve them. I doubt it matters which CPA review course you have, the Yaeger cram DVDs will complement any course and provide plenty of last-minute understanding.

Each year, the Yaeger CPA review course is reviewed. This also includes lecture videos they record annually. Thus, the student can be confident that they are learning from the most current information.

The price of the Yaeger products caught me by surprise as it is less than other CPA exam review courses - even though it is better quality than many. Overall, I am very happy with the Yaeger CPA review course as guided me to success in the CPA exam. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to succeed in the CPA exam the first time.
